WPL weekly star-tracker (August 21): Melie doing Melie things in The Hundred

From the breakneck action in England to the one-woman show in Assam, we cover the entire spectrum for you in this week’s round-up of what our WPL stars are up to in the world of cricket. Dig in, Paltan!

Nat’s batting masterclasses, business as usual

Skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt stumbled at the week's start, scoring 10 off 8 in a chase of 181 set by the Welsh Fire, a game that saw Tammy Beaumont score a historic ton. Yet, Nat brushed it off like a champ, rebounding with an 18-ball 33*, partnering Lizelle Lee's 44* to lead the Rockets to a 9-wicket win over Manchester Originals in a chase of 108. Against the Birmingham Phoenix, Nat chipped in with an 11-ball 18 cameo as her side, Trent Rockets, won by 3 runs!

Harman saving her best for the grand stage

Aapli Kaptan Kaur's tournament hasn't quite been the show she aimed for. A bunch of starts, but no real fireworks. In a chase of 181, her 23-ball 22* was off-brand, and then there was that 5(8) against the Phoenix. But hey, we know her game. When the going gets tough, she bounces back harder. And as we dive into the business end, we're betting she'll turn these starts into match-winning knocks. In Harman, we believe!

Tryon's bowling at her economical best

With every game, our Saffa all-rounder’s just been upping herself. Tryon's kept her bowling on point, producing stellar numbers of 0/22 (20 balls) against the Birmingham Phoenix and 0/19 (20 balls) against the Oval Invincibles in the last week.

Melie doing Melie things!

Try keeping her out! She started with a 9(8) against Oval Invincibles, then turned heads with a stroke-filled 32-ball 60* (9×4) against Northern Superchargers. Her bowling prowess was evident too, putting up figures of 3/16 (20 balls), 2/24 (20 balls), and 1/27 (20 balls) in London Spirit's recent game against Welsh Fire.

Hayley is backkkk and howwww!

Following a two-game absence because of injury, our MVP Matthews is back ahead of the knockouts! Welsh Fire fans surely would be super stoked because in her first game post-injury, Matthews rocked a rapid 23-ball 36, sparking the fire that helped Fire post 161. No bowling this time, but her team still bagged a 23-run win, sitting second on the points table now, right behind Chloe Tryon's Southern Brave!

Batting, bowling, captaincy. Jintimoni Kalita is doing it all ** clap, clap **

In the ongoing Assam Cricket Association Women's T20 Tournament, MI’s emerging sensation Jintimoni Kalita is making waves as the Dhansiri Dashers' captain! Starting off strong, she produced figures of 0/18 (4 overs) and that's not all - she also showcased a blazing batting display, scoring 40 off 38 balls. In the following game, she chipped in with a run-a-ball 18 and secured a wicket, and then had miserly bowling figures of 1/16 (3).
