Wrexham Betting: Which players are good to back for Bet Builders

Hollywood has come to the EFL thanks to the Welcome To Wrexham documentary which, while very good, obviously can’t hold a candle to Paddy’s Welcome To Basildon series.

Apparently more people have watched the former and good old Wrexham have been catapulted to international stardom with a little help from Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

We’ve seen a lot of interest in their games from punters so we thought it would be handy to come up with a little Wrexham betting guide with potential options and best-performing players in a number of markets from anytime goal scorer, shots on target, fouls committed and to be shown a card. Let’s take a look.

Goal-scorer markets

Paul Mullin has been the star of the show, on the pitch at least, for the north Wales side in the last couple of seasons. He’s scored a whopping 66 goals in 86 league games for Wrexham since joining but has found it a little tough going since that punctured lung he suffered in pre-season.

Elliot Lee is Wexham’s top scorer in the early stages of the 2023/24 season with seven goals and two assists in 12 games. The attacking midfielder is easily League One standard and looks set to have another stellar campaign this time around. His price will be boosted with Mullin making the market.

Shots On Target

Obviously Mullin is a great candidate in this market but one who might be a more appealing price is the veteran hitman Steven Fletcher. He’s not a regular starter by any means, in fact he’s yet to play more than 25 minutes in any single game up to the time of writing. However, when he gets on the field he causes mayhem and has had six shots in six games with three of those on target.

If you like your punts a little safer then Lee is your man. He’s Mr. Reliable and plays the full 90 on a regular basis. He’s averaging 1.2 shots on target per 90 minutes played and that’s reflected in his goal haul. Will be a shorter option but is a handy punt nonetheless.

Fouls

Given their dominance in the National League last year, betting on Wrexham fouls would have been a bit of a lottery. In the more competitive surroundings of League Two, however, they’ve been on the back of some thrashings and some much-tighter games.

As such, George Evans is a good candidate to look for in the fouls markets. The centre midfielder plays the majority of most games and has an appealing average of 1.7 fouls per 90 minutes at the time of publication.

Our old pal James McClean plays for Wrexham these days and he’s been deployed primarily as a left back/left wing back in the early stages of his Racecourse career. You’ll probably not surprised to hear that he’s averaging well over a foul a game and would be a great Bet Builder option.

To Be Shown A Card

Early days but there’s a few candidates in the To Be Shown A Card Markets. The all-action Lee tops Wexham’s indiscipline table with four bookings in 12 games, an average of one every three matches.

McClean has three in seven so has a higher strike rate along with centre back Eoghan O’Connell who has played the same number of matches.
