WTA Palermo Day 3 Predictions Including Zheng vs Parry

With Palermo underway, we have plunged into the post-Wimbledon clay swing, where many players can earn points to bank for the next year while most of the tour rests. As always, we here at LWOT will preview and predict every match. Who do you think will win?

WTA Palermo Day 3 Predictions

Emma Navarro vs Camilla Rosatello

Head-to-head: first meeting

Navarro has had a breakout season, winning 3 ITF titles and making three more finals, including last week in Bastad. Rosatello has struggled this season but came out with a 6-1 6-1 win over Viktorija Golubic. Navarro is still the favorite here with her level of play this season but Rosatello seems to have something special this week.

Prediction: Navarro in 3

Cristina Bucsa vs Clara Burel

Head-to-head: first meeting

Bucsa had a mixed week in Contrexeville last week, double bageling Tessah Andrianjafitrimo before losing 2-6 2-6 to Fiona Ferro in the quarterfinals. The Spaniard also had a tough time against lucky loser and first Maltese player to play a WTA match Francesca Curmi, only. beating 7-5 in the third. Burel won a W60 in Montpellier two weeks ago and looked good in her win over Julia Grabher. I see the Frenchwoman as the favorite here.

Sara Sorribes Tormo vs Nuria Brancaccio

Head-to-head: first meeting

Sorribes Tormo only started her season in April, 15-8 on the year so far. The Spaniard put in good work at the ITF level and came back to the fourth round of Roland Garros. Sorribes Tormo beat Elisabetta Cocciaretto in three sets, now facing another Italian. Brancaccio got her first back-to-back wins since Bogota in April in Palermo qualifying, dropping just five games. The 23-year-old then took out Tessah Andrianjafitrimo. Sorribes Tormo is a level above and should show it here.

Prediction: Sorribes Tormo in 2

Zheng Qinwen vs Diane Parry

Head-to-head: first meeting

Zheng has been solid on clay and entered Palermo with a bang, blowing Sara Errani out of the water with a double bagel. Parry’s season has been middling despite a title in Paris and semifinals in Makarska. The Frenchwoman has a bit of an unusual game with her one-handed backhand but Zheng looks like a title contender here.
