Ain't That A Shame Grand National Odds & Betting Profile

Ain't That A Shame is a lightly-raced nine-year-old that is set to line up in the 2023 Grand National for Henry De Bromhead and looks a lively outsider for the Aintree showpiece, which takes place on Saturday 15th April. We profile Ain't That A Shame here and take a look at his form, pedigree and much more ahead of the world's greatest steeplechase...

Age: 9

Trainer: Henry De Bromhead

Chase Runs: 7

Chase Wins: 1

With only ten career starts under Rules, Ain't That A Shame is likely to be one of the least experienced runners in this year's race, but Henry De Bromhead's raider is a relatively prominent figure in the latest Grand National Odds and could be a notable improver for the trainer that saddled Minella Times to glory two years ago.

Unplaced in the Kim Muir Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in 2022, Ain't That A Shame showed he could be a significant force in staying handicap chases when he finished a fine runner-up in the Munster National at Limerick on his first start this season. Edged out by The Big Dog narrowly in that event, he was then sent to Leopardstown for the hugely competitive Paddy Power Handicap Chase, where he was a fine fourth - beaten by about a length.

With still no success over fences, De Bromhead sent his nine-year-old to Gowran Park for a beginners chase and Ain't That A Shame breezed to a six-length win to get a real confidence-boosting victory on his CV. He was rated 146 when lining up in the aforementioned Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown and it's that mark he lines up in the Grand National, so he could well be ahead of the handicapper for this event.

While others may make more appeal for punters' Grand National Tips for the 2023 renewal, Ain't That A Shame could be a horse on the significant upgrade and while he hasn't got his head in front in one of these big handicap chases he's run some excellent races, so has to be hugely respected here for a very smart trainer in De Bromhead.
