Brian Flores now betting co-favorite to be Cardinals’ next HC

The Arizona Cardinals announced on Monday that former Tennessee Titans director of player personnel Monti Ossenfort was hired to be their new general manager, replacing Steve Keim. With the announcement, the betting odds for who would be the Cardinals’ next head coach changed.

As of Friday, four candidates were on the team’s radar and were the betting favorites — former Saints head coach Sean Payton at +300, current Arizona defensive coordinator Vance Joseph at +350, 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans at +500 and former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores at +750.

After the announcement of Ossenfort’s hiring, according to DraftKings Sportsbook, there were big changes.

Here is how things looked as of Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. Arizona time.

  • Sean Payton, Brian Flores +350
  • Vance Joseph +450
  • Shane Bowen +500
  • DeMeco Ryans +750

The two notable changes are with Flores and the appearance of Bowen.

Flores, who is on the Cardinals’ radar to interview, would know Ossenfort. Flores was on the Patriots staff from 2004-2018. Ossenfort was with New England in the scouting department 2003-2004 and 2007-2019.

Bowen is Tennessee’s defensive coordinator. There is no report of him being on the Cardinals’ radar, at least yet.

With a GM in place, a new coach could be coming soon.
