Broward County tennis players have won their respective divisions at the USTA Sectional Championships. The Lauderdale Tennis Club in Fort Lauderdale has managed to maintain that winning edge. In the Women’s 18 & Over 4.5 division, the Broward team won the championship 4-1 over Orange County. Rosamaria Rodriguez, of Browards, won in straight sets 6-2, 6, 2-6. Victoria Baca, from Lauderdale, beat Catherine Taylor in No. 2 singles competition. Mariana Eberle-Baylock won all four of her matches with four different partners.

Broward County tennis players have won both the 4.5 40 & Over and 4,5 18 & Under championships this year. Frank Veltri Tennis Center also had champions in the 18 and 3. 5 Women’s Sectionals. Tennis has provided the athletes an opportunity to forge lifelong friendships. It also has the benefits of health and creating memories. The team defeated Sanlando Park out of Orlando County 3-2 in a match that went down to the wire. They were represented on the championship roster by captain Sara Contreras.
