Carolina Panthers vs New York Giants Best Bets & Odds for NFL Preseason Week 2

How to Watch Panthers vs Giants

Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm ET on Friday, August 18 at MetLife Stadium. The game is being broadcast live on the NFL Network.

This will be the first NFL Preseason meeting between these two teams since 2011. Carolina won that game at home 20-10. Overall, the NFL odds show that the Panthers are 6-2 SU in the preseason against the Giants. The Panthers are also 3-2 SU as an away team when facing the Giants in exhibition play.

Young to Get Similar Reps As Last Week

Panthers QB Bryce Young, the first player chosen in the 2023 NFL Draft, was 4-of-6 for 21 yards in his NFL Preseason debut against the Jets. He played three series. Panthers head coach Frank Reich is saying that he’ll likely play Young the same amount of time against the NFL’s other New York squad.

Reich is looking for an upgrade in the performance of his offense in Week 2 following their shutout by the Jets. But they’ll have to do it without their prize offseason addition. Running back Miles Sanders (groin) won’t be playing against the Giants.

Other definite scratches for the Panthers in Week 2 are QB Andy Dalton (back), WR Terrance Marshall (neck) and guard Cade Mays (neck).

Giants Will Be Playing Majority of Starters

Most if not all of the Giants starters are expected to see action vs the Panthers. They’ll all be on snap counts according to head coach Brian Daboll and the majority will only see one or two series of playing time, including starting QB Daniel Jones.

One player to watch could be second-year LB Kayvon Thibodeaux. He was called out this week by Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale, who said Thibodeaux needed to make a push this season.

Giants tackle Evan Neal has cleared concussion protocol and is available to play. However, WR Clay Beasley (leg) missed two days of practice this week and is unlikely to play.

Tyrod Taylor got the start at QB against the Lions, a game in which the Giants blew a 13-3 lead. Rookie Tommy DeVito took the majority of snaps.

Panthers vs Giants Best Bets

Minus Dalton, rookie Young and second-year QB Matt Corrall will each get an eyeful of Martindale’s aggressive, blitzing defensive style. It could be another long night for the Carolina offense.

An offense that added Sanders, WRs Adam Thielen and DJ Chalk and TE Hayden Hurst is still looking for its first points of the preseason. That’s not a recipe for success heading on the road to play one of last season’s playoff clubs.
