Day one at Galway: everything you need to know before Monday's card

The second stage of the September fixture at Galway goes ahead this evening. Willie Mullins-trained reserve for the feature race on day one of Galways Festival has sneaked into the final field. The McNeill Family-owned five-year-old gets in and will be ridden by Charlie Mullin's nephew and brother of Grand National-winning jockey David. Joseph O'Brien- trained Celestial Horizon and John McConnell-trained Big Kitten miss out on a run in the Connacht Hotel (Q.R.) Handicap.

There are nine non-runners on Day 1 at Galway.

18mm of rain on Sunday has altered the going for day one of the Galway Festival. The chase course is now given as good to yielding, the hurdles track as yielding and the Flat racing surface as soft.
