'Fake IPL' filmed on a farm fools dozy Russian cricket gamblers who lose over £3,000

Four conmen set up a fake version of the Indian Premier League to trick gamblers in Russia into placing bets on it. They paid local labourers to impersonate professional players and a cricket commentator to play the games. The game reached the quarter-final stage before police stopped play. The suspects were charged with criminal conspiracy and gambling. Cricket fans were amused by the fake IPL. Twitter users suggested that Russian fans are not familiar with Indian club cricket.
