How a small Indian village tricked Russian gamblers with fake "IPL" cricket competition
Four men were arrested for organising a fake cricket tournament in Molipur, Gujarat. The group hired 21 local youths and labourers to play as players and broadcast the matches live on a YouTube link. They also hired a commentator who tried to mimic Harsha Bhogle. It was organised almost a month after the real IPL season had finished. There were bets on the games being placed via Telegram from Moscow and the cities of Tver and Voronezh for more than a fortnight.
