Horse racing predictions: Exeter and Down Royal

ITV Racing cameras are at Exeter and Down Royal on Friday. The broadcast is on ITV4 from 1.10 to 4.00 pm. Expert has predictions for all seven races, the highlight of which is the Haldon Gold Cup at 3.35.

Down Royal is taking part in the Mares Novice Hurdle at 1.30. The MODEL KINGDOM is unbeaten in three starts under National Hunt rules.

Mulberry Hill won at Carlisle in a 2m 4f handicap hurdle. She is over her breathing issues and is likely to be more successful.

Pied Piper and Fil Dor were two of the leading novice hurdlers last season. Pied Piper won the Masterson Hurdle at Cheltenham last month. Down Royal is the runner-up in the Triumph HURDLE.

There are just three horses in the Betway 'Future Stars' Silver Bowl Novices’ Chase (3m). Two-time hurdler THYME HILL is making his chase debut.

Gordon Elliott's chaser Down Royal will need to defy a 6lb rise in the ratings to build on his recent win at Limerick.

3.00 Exeter – Betway ‘Challenger’ Stayers” Handicap Chase (3m). Minella Buster won his debut at Kempton last month. Emma Lavelle‘s gelding won with plenty in hand last time.

3.35 Exeter – Betway Haldon Gold Cup (Group 2, 2m 1½f). Third Time Lucki and War Lord represent Dan Skelton and Joe Tizzard respectively. Paul Nicholls has won this race seven times, including with GREANETEEN in 2020.
