Horse racing predictions: Market Rasen, Clonmel and Wincanton

There are five horse racing meetings across the UK and Ireland on Thursday. Newcastle, Market Rasen, Wincanton, Clonmel and Chelmsford are the jump cards. Chelmmsford is the all-weather flat meeting.

BEMPTON CLIFFS won here over today's trip of 2m 1f in March. He added another success in May at Warwick (2m). A lack of fluency cost him at Bangor in August, but he returned to winning ways in October at Sedgefield ( 2 m 1 f).

The Grade 2 Clonmel Oil Chase is the big race of the day in Ireland. Joseph O'Brien saddles Darasso, Gordon Elliott sends Pencilfulloflead and Tornado Flyer and Blue Lord are the favourites. The winner of this race takes the €36,000 top prize.  ClonMel Oil Chase is won by the likes of Sizing Europe, Champagne Fever, Kemboy, Douvan and Fakir D’Oudairies.

Wincanton is the local track of Britain's champion trainer Paul Nicholls. He has a 28 per cent strike-rate from nearly 300 runners in the past five seasons at the Somerset circuit. Donalvaro is expected to win.
