Horse racing predictions: Newmarket, Perth and Listowel

There are six race meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland on Thursday. The opening afternoon of the Cambridgeshire Meeting at Newmarket starts at 1.15-5.20pm. Flat cards are from Listowel (1.25- 5.30), Pontefract ( 1:43-4.10), Southwell (4:50-8.00), Chelmsford (5:45-7.45) and National Hunt racing comes from Perth (2:35-6.02).

Roger Varian's stable boasts a 27 per cent strike-rate across the last fortnight. Sakheer won the Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury on Saturday. Vary's horse Open Champion is a leading chance on day one of the Cambridgeshire Meeting. Andrea Atzeni's mount Open Championship is expected to win.

It's the Glorious Finale meeting at Perth on Thursday at 4.30. Peter and Sean Bowen can win the Centenary Silver Plate Handicap Chase over 3m with EASY BUCKS. Eeasy Buck was an unlucky loser last time at Fontwell. Rapid Raider is Lucinda Russell's eight-year-old who races for the first time since a win at Kelso in May.

Jessica Harrington's National Ballet could win the 14th handicap at Listowel on Thursday. The horse has improved with each of his three starts since his debut for the yard in July.
