Nick Kerr was an assistant with the Santa Cruz Warriors for the last two seasons. The Golden State Warriors championship-winning coach Steve Kerr’s son Nick Kerr, a former University of California guard, will be the head coach of the G League’s Santa Cruz Warriors, for the 2023-24 season.
Steve Kerr, a sharpshooter, ended his career playing with the San Antonio Spurs and got hands-on experience from Gregg Popovich. He got his first coaching assignment with the Dubs in 2014 and secured four championships as a coach and five as a player with Chicago Bulls.
Though not having any head coaching experience, he could achieve success after taking the mantle from Mark Jackson in the Bay Area.
Nick Kerr, 30, joined as the Spurs video room assistant in 2017-18. He then worked as an assistant for two seasons with the Golden State’s G League affiliate after working as the video coordinator under his father for the NBA’s Warriors for four years.
Steve Kerr’s son will replace Seth Cooper, who is now helping run the Golden State’s player development program. Santa Cruz finished the 2022-23 season with an 18-14 record.
