Jockey holds hands up to "embarrassing" blunder after riding to finish race a lap early

Neil Callan was riding with Ballet Blanc in a two-mile race at Kempton. He took the lead after three furlongs and pushed the filly clear of Tribal Commander. Calla was taking his horses for another lap when he realised his mistake. The jockey was suspended for the rest of the race won by Blazeon Five. He had earlier enjoyed two winners, Tenjin for Marco Botti and Lelabad from William Knight's stable. His previous career included riding 282 winners in Hong Kong and earning more than £30m in prize money.
