LA Dodgers vs. San Diego Padres Picks, Predictions & Odds

Yesterday was a light day throughout MLB, but the action is heating up on Friday. After a day off, the Los Angeles Dodgers (19-13) are set to take on their Southern California foes, the San Diego Padres (17-15). This is the beginning of a pivotal three-game series in the NL West. Do not be surprised if we see both these teams making a run late in October.

This is one of the most anticipated matchups of the year for both of these MLB teams. Both the Dodgers and Padres are projected to be at the top of the MLB standings and every one of these MLB games on the MLB schedule matters With that being said, let’s take a look at the Dodgers vs Padres odds.

Days off in MLB are very much appreciated during the daunting 162-game season. The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres are well-rested and ready to go to war. Do you agree with the Dodgers vs Padres odds?

We have a battle of the aces in between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. Representing the Dodgers will be the veteran Clayton Kershaw. This LA team is special, and they are even better when Kershaw takes the mound. Granted, we are early in the season, but looking at his Los Angeles Dodgers stats this season, Kershaw is making a case for the Cy Young.

Kershaw has pitched in six games this season and has only allowed more than two runs in just one appearance. That came against the Arizona Diamondbacks who are quietly having a great season so far in 2023. The 35-year-old is 5-1 with a 1.89 ERA, 0.72 WHIP, and 41 strikeouts through 38.0 innings pitched. Kershaw is aging like fine wine, and boy does he look good. The lefty has struck out nine batters in half of his games so far.

With all the positive words towards the pitcher on the other side, Joe Musgrove is no slouch himself. The California native has been fighting the injury bug this year and is set to make his third appearance of the young season. If there is one weak link for the stacked San Diego Padres roster, it would be their starting pitching. With an offense like theirs, they can contend in any game, but the pitching does need to step up. A healthy Musgrove is a recipe for success in order for that to happen.

The RHP is 1-0 with a 10.80 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, and nine strikeouts through 8.1 innings. Both of his outings were against NL West teams, and they have had his number. It will be interesting to see if that remains the case against yet another NL West foe. Musgrove is coming off of perhaps the best season of his career and should be fine with more reps.

As the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres are set to battle, this is one of many important games going on in the league as the weekend begins. There is a reason that the projected total is low. These offenses are among the best in the league, but this is an enticing matchup on the bump.

  • Take under 7.5 (even) runs in this one.

This game marks the first meeting of 13 throughout the season series with potentially more to come in the postseason. The Dodgers are 8-2 in their last 10, but the Padres are 7-3 in that same stretch. Both teams are hot, but the Dodgers are on fire.

  • Take the Dodgers (-120) on the road in San Diego.
