Dodgers vs Padres Prediction

The San Diego Padres will host the Los Angeles Dodgers for game two of their divisional series this Saturday from Petco Park. Los Angeles pulled away with game one late to win by five, 10-5.

Dodgers Preview & Projected Starter

Los Angeles moved to 63-45 after defeating San Diego. The Dodgers got hot in seventh inning and didn't look back last night, and they'll look to rip off a fifth straight win here. The Los Angeles offense is scoring 5.04 runs per game, while batting .248, with a .330 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.50 ERA, with a 1.28 WHIP.

Los Angeles has yet to name a starter, indicating it may be a bullpen day.

Dodgers Player Trends & Props

Freddie Freeman has scored a run in seven of the previous nine games, and he leads the Dodgers in BA (.338) hits (146), and RBI (76), with 22 homers.

Mookie Betts brings a twelve-game hit streak into game two, and he leads the team in home runs (29), with 70 RBI.

J.D. Martinez returned in game one and produced a run to tie Freeman for the team-lead in RBI at 76, with 25 homers.

Ames Rosario has settled in nicely with the LA lineup, and after producing multiple runs in three straight games, he’s batting .333 with LAD, and has 47 RBI for the season.

Padres Preview & Projected Starter

San Diego moved to 54-56 after losing to Los Angeles. The Padres couldn't hold off the Dodgers after leading for most of the game, and they'll look to get back into the win column Saturday. San Diego offense is scoring 4.31 runs per game, while batting .228, with a .317 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.76 ERA, with a 1.23 WHIP.

Blake Snell (6-8, 2.67 ERA, 143 Ks) will take the mound for San Diego. The eighth-year lefty picked up his second straight win after containing Texas to one run through five innings, while striking out nine. This isn’t 2018 Blake Snell, but this version has been the best pitcher in baseball since the end of May. Snell has allowed two runs or in thirteen straight starts, while clearing seven strikeouts in ten of those, and surpassing the 10-K mark five times. Snell held the Dodgers to two runs thru six innings in a start in LA prior to this great stretch of play, and he’ll look to keep his momentum going here.

Padres Player Trends & Props

Juan Soto has gone yard in three straight games, and he leads the Pads in home runs (24) and RBI (71), with 105 hits.

Manny Machado has collected a hit in nine of the last ten games, and he’s posting splits of .257/20/62.

Fernando Tatis went hitless in game one, but he’s posting a nice line of .270/19/58.

Xander Bogaerts has recorded multiple hits in consecutive games to bring his team-lead in hits to 107.

Ha-Seong Kim brings a ten-game hit streak into this matchup, and he leads the Pads in (.289), with 15 homers and 41 RBI.

Corey’s Free Pick

Los Angeles stole the first contest after torching the bullpen, but I think Blake Snell gets this one back for the Pads. Snell isn’t just overpowering batters right now, he’s containing lineups at a high rate as well, and there’s a chance he slows this Dodgers lineup down. The Padres should also have more success at the plate after a rather quiet game one, and there’s pressure on them to win. Let’s trust Black Snell, and ride with San Diego in game two.
