Legislators Discuss Drag Show Legislation, Emergency Teacher Certification, and Sports Betting

Legislation to regulate the content of drag shows in the state, emergency teacher certification, and sports betting are among issues area legislators discuss during the weekly Legislative Update Program.

Third District State Senator Whitney Westerfield says he is closely watching legislation that will place limits on what participants in a drag show can do, with the bill aimed at protecting young people.

Meanwhile, 9th District State Representative Myron Dossett is hoping a Senate Bill aimed at continuing emergency teacher certifications can be passed by the Kentucky General Assembly this session.

And 8th District State Representative Walker Thomas says he is closely watching sports betting legislation that could be voted on during the remaining days of the General Assembly session. Thomas says although he is opposed to expanded gambling one of the bills could encourage those who engage in sports betting to use gaming facilities in the state.

The Legislators comments on those and a number of other issues can be heard on the weekly Legislative Update Program Sundays following the Noon News Edge on 96.5 and 100.9 WHVO and online at whvoradio.com.
