Los Angeles Angels vs San Francisco Giants Prediction 8-9-23 MLB Picks

The San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Angels meet Wednesday in MLB action from Angel Stadium. This will be the final installment in a three-game series. On Monday in the opener, the Giants took a five-run win. In game two Los Angeles evened things up with a two-run win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

San Francisco Giants

The Giants scored six runs in the ninth inning Monday to put the finishing touches on an 8-3 comeback win. Patrick Bailey put up three RBI and Mark Mathias added a pair of RBI. On Tuesday San Francisco gave up four runs in the first inning and never tied up again in a 7-5 loss. Wilmer Flores had two hits, four RBI and a homer, while Joc Pederson added an RBI on a 1-for-3 evening.

Ryan Walker will take the mound for the Giants on Wednesday as starter. This year Walker is 4-1 with a 2.52 ERA and 41 strikeouts total. Walker posted 0.2 clean frames versus Oakland in his last appearance on August 6.

Los Angeles Angels

Over on the Angels’ side, they got three RBI out of Patrick Bailey in the Monday game but couldn’t avert the loss from a blown Carlos Estevez save. In game two Los Angeles out-hit the Giants 12-5. The Angels got three hits and three runs from Brandon Drury. Mike Moustakas had two RBI, two hits and a run as well.

It’ll be Shohei Ohtani in the starting role for the Angels on Wednesday. Over his 21 starts so far Ohtani is 9-5 with a 3.32 ERA and 160 Ks in 124.2 innings. Ohtani is 3-3 with a 3.38 ERA over his last seven starts, notching 16 earned in 42.2 innings total.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m probably going to stay with the Angels. Ohtani has bounced back well since giving up five earned in 6.1 innings versus the Pirates on July 21 (still a victory). In his last pair Ohtani is 1-0 with 13.0 innings, zero earned, four hits and four walks. If Ohtani can log a solid six innings or so the Angels will be set up well for a potential win. On Tuesday Los Angeles had a nice offensive evening with four different players bagging two hits or more. The bullpen was a little shaky (3.0 innings; two earned) but Ohtani should set the table well. If the Angels offense can post another nice game they’ll be in great position.
