Maple Leafs same-game parlay predictions vs. Oilers Jan. 16: Bet on Toronto and Matthews at +350

The Toronto Maple Leafs begin a three-game Western Canadian road trip tonight when they take on the Edmonton Oilers.

The pregame narrative: Toronto will be in tough against an Edmonton team that's won a franchise-record 10 straight games. But the Maple Leafs have been fantastic on the road this year and I expect them to cover as puck line underdogs. Backing Auston Matthews to score alongside an alternate under rounds out this +350 ticket.

Same-game parlay Maple Leafs predictions

Parlay: Maple Leafs +1.5 + Under 7.5 goals + Matthews to score (+350)

Maple Leafs +1.5 (-200): The Oilers' 10-game winning streak is nothing to scoff at but there have been a few holes to poke in it lately. Edmonton has scored a total of 10 goals in its past four games against the Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks and Ottawa Senators.

Those are all bottom-10 teams in terms of goals allowed average, and the Oilers only won two of those games by two-plus goals.

Edmonton's offence hasn't been overly convincing and now it takes on a Toronto team with an incredible 11-3-6 road record. The Leafs have covered this line in 18 of 20 road games (90.0%) and also own a 10-3-2 record against the Oilers across the past five seasons.

Other parlay picks

Under 7.5 goals (-186): Given that Edmonton is averaging 2.5 goals across its past four games and has four wins in that span, you know it's receiving quality goaltending.

The under on this alternate total has hit in eight of 10 games during the Oilers' current winning streak.

Toronto is dealing with some goaltending hiccups but Martin Jones finally got some rest and I'm expecting him to rebound tonight. He owns a season-log 2.30 GAA and .924 save percentage, which rans fifth and third, respectively, in the NHL.

The under on this total has also cashed in 12 of the past 13 meetings between these teams.

Matthews to score (+102): All Matthews does is light the lamp, so I'm fine backing him to score even while taking an under. The two-time Rocket Richard winner is well on his way to a third with a league-best 33 goals in 40 games played.

He's scored in seven of Toronto's past 10 road games, with 10 total goals in that run.

Matthews has also scored in four of his past six games against Edmonton. Don't overthink it — expect No. 34 to put one home.
