R.J. Alvarez made one appearance in the Major Leagues. He was sent back to the minors after two stints. In mid-August he got into a game against the Atlanta Braves and was hit by two home runs. The Braves won the game 5-0. He spent the rest of the season with the Syracuse Syracus.
R.J. Alvarez elected to become a free agent on October 9. The Mets will sign another minor league arm to fill out the Syracuse pitching staff.
