Taijuan Walker was injured for most of the 2021 season. He returned to form in June and had a good season with a 2.63 ERA. Taijuan Walker signed a four-year, $72 million contract with Philadelphia Phillies.

Taijuan Walker declined his player option to test free agency and the Mets didn't extend him a qualifying offer. Walker signed a four-year deal worth $72 million with the Phillies. The Mets signed Jose Quintana to a two- year deal.
