With MLB teams beginning their 2024 season prep in earnest, it’s a great time to take an initial glance at the World Series Odds betting leaderboard.
MLB World Series Odds 2024: Dodgers favorites to win World Series (+360 or better)
The Dodgers are once again considered to boast baseball’s most complete roster, one made even more formidable with the addition of Shohei Ohtani.
All eyes will be on how the two-way phenom’s internal elbow bracing procedure appears to be taking this spring, but manager Dave Roberts has stated he’s expecting his prize offseason acquisition to DH right out of the gate.
Factoring in the additions of Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto (a three-time winner of NPB’s Cy Young Award equivalent), James Paxton and Teoscar Hernandez to an already fearsome group of incumbents, there's no questioning the championship potential of this squad.
Atlanta Braves World Series Odds 2024 (+600 or better)
Like the Dodgers, the Braves’ postseason came to an alarming and shocking end. Atlanta has visions of atonement entering 2024, and as the odds indicate, are still considered one of the preeminent contenders in all of baseball.
Brian Snitker’s squad has virtually no turnover in its starting nine with the exception of of Jarred Kelenic, once considered baseball’s top prospect in the Mariners’ minor-league system. While he’s certainly fallen short of expectations in the majors, a fresh start and elite protection around him could make all the difference.
On the pitching side, the arrival of Chris Sale could also pay major dividends if the once-dominant lefty can remain healthy.
Houston Astros Odds to win World Series 2024 (+850 or better)
The Astros are running it back with the starting lineup and rotation that netted a 90-72 record and AL West title. However, they’ll open spring training with Justin Verlander running behind schedule with his shoulder injury.
Yet, the overall pitching arsenal is certainly buoyed by the team’s one major offseason addition, Josh Hader, who arrives from the Padres with 33+ saves in four consecutive non-COVID-shortened seasons between them and Milwaukee.
New York Yankees World Series Odds 2024 (+900 or better)
Another season of big expectations in the Bronx approaches, with New York looking to make an exponential year-over-year improvement after an 82-80 mark in 2023.
Aaron Boone will be counting on major bounce-back seasons from a number of players, with the one major offseason arrival being Juan Soto, who arguably underachieved for a significant chunk of his 1.5-year Padres tenure until picking things up in the second half of last season.
The pitching staff will once again bank on Gerrit Cole to lead the way and hope Carlos Rodon and newcomer Marcus Stroman develop into an effective “2-3” punch behind the long-time ace.
