Newcastle vs Aston Villa Betting Tip 1: Under 2.5 Goals

This intriguing match-up pits two of this season’s most promising sides against each other, with both entering the season off the back of European qualification.

Last season bore witness to two hugely contrasting results, with this weekend’s hosts cruising to an emphatic 4-0 victory on Tyneside, just over a week after former manager Steven Gerrard was sacked following an ugly run of form.

As history would show however, Unai Emery proved a transformative figure for Villa, and the return fixture back in April saw them claim revenge with a dominant 3-0 win at home.

That leaves us very little to go off, but both of these sides finished in a strong position defensively and have moved to shore up their backlines over the summer – we are tipping this to be a cagey opener.

Newcastle vs Aston Villa Betting Tip 2: Both Teams to Score

The last time these two teams played was in pre-season. On that occasions, both scored three goals each, with the match resulting in a 3-3 draw. Generally in recent fixtures between these two teams, both teams have tended not to score.

However, here at SportsLens we are supremely confident that this match with end as a draw, with both teams scoring at least one goal. Both have frightening attacks, capable of scoring goals for fun.

With the likes of Miguel Almiron, Alexander Isak, Callum Wilson and Anthony Gordon just some of the attacking options for Newcastle United, it will be extremely difficult for the Villa defence to keep them at bay.

Similarly, the Aston Villa attack consisting of Ollie Watkins, Emiliano Buendia and John McGinn is a strong one, who will be confident of breaking down the Newcastle defence at least once.

Newcastle vs Aston Villa Betting Tip 2: Match Result to be a Draw

Newcastle United and Aston Villa had an epic 3-3 draw out in American during pre-season, and we can see there being another stalemate on the opening weekend of Premier League action on Saturday evening.

Despite only three of the last 10 fixtures between these two sides resulting in a draw, here at SportsLens we can see these two quality sides cancelling each other out at St James’ Park in the 5.30pm kick-off on Saturday night.

Last season, Newcastle hammered Villa 4-0 at home, but lost the return fixture at Villa Park 3-0. However, the two sides played out a thrilling draw in pre-season over in America. These two teams could be very evenly matched this season, with both having aspirations of European football come the end of the season.

Expect a tight affair between ‘The Magpies’ and ‘The Villians’ on Saturday in the late Premier League kick-off.
