This matchup of 2022 NFC playoff teams serves as the 49ers’ home opener and is the second contest on Amazon Prime’s weekly Thursday night schedule.

It’s another home game for the Browns, who have a favorable early schedule with four home dates and a bye over the season’s first six weeks.

Atlanta is on the road for the first time after opening with a pair of home games. And don’t be too hesitant about laying the five-plus points with the Lions, who own the league’s second-best home record against the spread (16-9) over the last three seasons.

This will be the 2023 regular season home opener for QB Jordan Love and the Packers. Love is trying to pick up where QB predecessor Aaron Rodgers left off as the Pack was a league-best 34-9-1 at Lambeau Field over the last five seasons.

It’s a tough situational spot for the Broncos who are on the road for the first time in the regular season and serving as the opponent in the Dolphins’ home opener in the South Florida September heat. Furthering that point, Miami is a league-best 27-14 (.659) ATS at home over the last five seasons.

The Bolts have opened as one of the few road favorites in Week 3. That may be surprising at first glance given the Vikings’ 8-2 home record in 2022, but then again Minnesota was only 4-6 ATS in those 10 games, including the wild-card loss to the Giants.

This is oddly one of only two divisional matchups on the Week 3 card. It’s also the first 2023 road game and first contest vs. new Jets QB Aaron Rodgers for the Pats. Gang Green will be trying to snap New England’s 14-game win streak (10-4 ATS) in the series.

Buffalo is a 4.5-point favorite in this one, and that sounds right in a QB matchup of Josh Allen vs. Sam Howell and with Washington owning the league’s second-worst home record (14-28, .333) over the last five seasons.

The AFC South’s first- (Jacksonville) and last-place (Houston) finishers in 2022 clash here in Florida. Surprisingly, though, the Texans have dominated the head-to-head series of late, winning nine of the last 10 and going 7-3 ATS.

This figures to an intriguing QB matchup with rookie Anthony Richardson and the Colts squaring off against vet Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. Oddsmakers, though, don’t think it will be much of a contest overall with Baltimore one of three early Week 3 favorites laying more than seven points.

We get another rookie-vs.-veteran quarterback matchup here as No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young and the Panthers venture across the country to visit Geno Smith and the Seahawks in the Pacific Northwest.

QB Justin Fields and the Bears face a tough early-season test in K.C., where the Chiefs are 41-11 (.789) since Patrick Mahomes took over as the starting quarterback in 2018. But definitely consider grabbing the nine-plus points with the visitors as the Chiefs are only 23-26-3 ATS at home during that same span.

This profiles as a very favorable road game for the Cowboys who always draw well in Arizona and just might have the fan-count advantage. That’s one of the reasons why the Cardinals were catching a TD or more at home on the early point spread.

The Sunday night matchup features two once-bitter AFC rivals meeting in Sin City. That’s notable as this will be thew Raiders’ home opener after games in Denver and Buffalo while the Steelers are on the road for the first time after opening with home dates against the 49ers and Browns.

It’s the second straight week of staggered-start Monday night games on ESPN and ABC. In this first matchup, the defending NFC champs have opened as a touchdown road favorite in Tampa against the new-look Bucs. However, be aware that the Eagles own a league-worst ATS road record (8-18) over the last three seasons.

These two teams have ventured in opposite directions since the Rams’ 23-20 win in Super Bowl LVI. And that’s reflected in the point spread here as the Bengals are among the heaviest favorites of Week 3.
