NHL parlay picks Jan. 16: Bet on Flames, Jets to win as part of +303 play

Tuesday's eight-game NHL slate has plenty of action which provides an enticing three-leg parlay.

The pregame narrative: The Calgary Flames continue to make noise in the Pacific, and I'm backing them against the Arizona Coyotes tonight. The Winnipeg Jets are a good bet to rebound at home while goals are expected when the Colorado Avalanche take on the Ottawa Senators.

NHL parlay picks

Parlay: Flames moneyline + Jets moneyline + Avalanche/Senators over 6.5 goals(+303)

Flames moneyline(-175): Calgary has turned a corner this season and is now hunting for a playoff spot.

The Flames have been playing above their standard lately, winning nine of their past 13 games. One was a 6-2 victory over the Coyotes on the road.

Now Calgary gets them again at home where it is a respectable 10-7-1 this season.

The Coyotes have been impressive this season, sitting three points back of a playoff spot. A large part of that has been their powerplay which is ninth best in the NHL (24.0%). Unluckily for them, their opponent has the sixth-highest penalty kill (84.2%) to match.

On top of that advantage, Calgary's goalie, Jacob Markstrom, has been excellent in the net lately. Over his last 10 starts, he's boasting a 2.02 GAA and .936 SV%. He's arguably been the best shot-stopper in the league over that span.

Expect the Flames to remain scorching hot tonight.

Other parlay picks

Jets moneyline (-195): The Philadelphia Flyers ended the Jets' 14-game point streak on Saturday and now is a good time to take Winnipeg in a bounce-back spot.

Firstly, Winnipeg has been a force at home all year, going 15-6-2 at Canada Life Centre while the New York Islanders have been not so good on the road, losing their last three with a combined goal differential of minus-10 across those contests.

This all goes before mentioning the fact that the Jets haven't given up more than three goals in 32 straight games. It's hard to see the Islanders breaking that as they are bottom 10 in goals (2.95) and shots (29.4) per game.

Backing Winnipeg at home should be the right move.

Avalanche/Senators over 6.5 goals (-143): Ottawa is one of the worst defensive teams in hockey but they can light the lamp to counter that, especially in their building.

The Sens score 3.43 goals per game when on home ice.

It's too bad they allow the third most goals per game (3.68) and have the second-worst penalty kill (71.8%). This is dangerous playing the Avs as they score the second most goals per game (3.66) and convert on 25.0% of their powerplays.

There have been seven-plus goals scored in seven of the last eight games played at the Canadian Tire Centre.
