McCord has thrown at least two touchdown passes in four consecutive games, but none of those performances came against a defense nearly as good as the Wolverines’ unit. McCord threw just one touchdown pass when he played against the Penn State Nittany Lions earlier in 2023.

The Wolverines haven’t allowed a single quarterback to throw more than one touchdown pass against them. They gave up more than 20 points in a game for the first time all campaign in Week 12, but Michigan didn’t allow a passing touchdown.

McCarthy hasn’t been lighting up the box score, but this is too low of a number for a game of this caliber.

He's thrown for fewer than 200 yards in back-to-back games. However, McCarthy threw just eight times against Penn State, and the Wolverines ran the ball 46 times. That approach isn’t going to work against Ohio State.

While he struggled against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in Week 4, he silenced any doubters with his 11-catch, 162-yard performance against the seventh-ranked Nittany Lions’ pass defense. 

The Wolverines boast the top passing defense in college football, but Harrison Jr. is good enough to get near 100 yards in this game regardless. The Wolverines haven’t needed to go up against a receiver even remotely close to his talent level. However, this remains a three-star play because the Wolverines may take Harrison Jr. out of the game and force someone else to beat them.
