SGP predictions for Panthers vs. Bears

While the Bears are understandably seen as one of the worst teams in the NFL this season, their contests have at least provided a fair amount of scoring action. Games involving Chicago are 6-3 on Overs on the year, and that feels notable in a season where Unders have dominated the league. Only once have we seen a Bears game fail to eclipse 40 total points.

The total falls below that threshold on Thursday against Carolina. While the Panthers have seen Overs go just 3-5 in their games, four of their eight contests have made it Over the paltry total set for Thursday night.

The smoking gun statistic for this wager is specific to Carolina’s total-point trends in recent road games. The last three Panthers road games have seen 64, 66, and 63 total points, respectively.

Tyson Bagent Under 185.5 passing yards (-115 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

Including a game total Over wager in the same parlay as a quarterback’s passing total going Under provides a solid odds boost to our SGP. We’re confident enough that both events could take place due to how Carolina defends.

The Panthers have one of the stingiest pass defenses in the NFL this season, allowing only 178.3 passing yards per game to their opponents. Tyson Bagent hasn’t been much of a volume passer, anyway, filling more of a game-manager role.

Though Bagent has cleared 220+ passing yards in his last two outings, the Panthers’ run-funnel defense shouldn’t allow for nearly as many opportunities down the field. I expect the Bears to pound the rock, as Carolina is much weaker against the ground game. DraftKings lists Bagent’s passing total at 185.5 yards, while some of our other best sports betting apps have it slightly lower at 184.5 yards.

D'Onta Foreman Over 62.5 rushing yards (-115 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Bears aren't expected to activate Khalil Herbert on Thursday, so this sets up as one last ride for D'Onta Foreman. The veteran rusher has been more reliable and consistent than rookie Roschon Johnson, so we expect the Bears to prioritize Foreman again this week against a Carolina defense that allows the fifth-most rushing yards per game in the NFL this season (131.8).

FanDuel lists Foreman’s rushing total at 60.5 yards with -110 odds on both sides of the prop if you prefer it as a standalone wager. The lines are a bit squirrely at DraftKings, where you can bet Foreman Over 62.5 rushing yards with -115 odds or take the alternate line of 60+ rushing yards for -160.

In either case, FanDuel has the better offering, but our overall parlay odds are substantially better at DraftKings. At DK, we land odds at +600 if we choose the 62.5-yard line for Foreman.
