The New York Rangers are coming off a 6-3 loss in Tampa Bay on Thursday night. That was a game that saw the Blueshirts blow an early 2-0 lead and allow their most goals in a game in over two months. Igor Shesterkin came back down to Earth with five goals against after back-to-back shutout efforts.
On the flip side, the Pittsburgh Penguins got a much-need win with a 6-3 triumph over the lowly Sharks.
Despite selling at the trade deadline and being in a 2-6-1 rut, the Penguins are somehow still alive in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
The Rangers added at the deadline with Jack Roslovic, Alex Wennberg, and Chad Ruhwedel joining the club. Roslovic is getting a chance on the top line and he scored his first goal with New York in Thursday’s loss.
