Safe Super Bowl Bets to Make for Chiefs vs Eagles

Sports Betting Dime

At DraftKings Sportsbook, there is a section in the NFL category titled “TD Scorers”. You can bet on any player to score a touchdown in the Super Bowl at various odds. You can also bet on who will score the first TD and who will score the last one.

Jalen Hurts is being offered at -110 odds to score a touchdown (Anytime TD Scorer). In order for this bet to cash, Hurts has to actually score a touchdown himself (passing TD doesn’t count).

The current odds at DraftKings suggest Hurts has a 52.4% chance to find the endzone Sunday. The Philadelphia quarterback has scored a touchdown in seven of his past 10 games, however, which is a 70% success rate. Using this recent trend, there is value betting Hurts to score a TD at -110 odds.

Pick: Jalen Hurts Anytime TD Scorer -110 (DraftKings)

Pick: Travis Kelce Over 78.5 Receiving Yards

While Hurts scoring a touchdown is an easy Super Bowl bet related to the Eagles, there’s another simple Super Bowl bet to make pertaining to a star on the Chiefs. Caesars Sportsbook has released over/under receiving yards for every eligible player.

Caesars has set the over/under receiving yards total for Chiefs TE Travis Kelce at 78.5 yards. The “Over” is the favorite to hit with odds of -139. This is a player prop that is a no-brainer to bet when you look at Kelce’s recent playoff output.

Kelce has been an absolute beast for Kansas City in meaningful games, recording at least 95 receiving yards in seven of his past eight playoff games. He only had seven catches for 78 yards in his most recent postseason contest, however, so recency bias has undervalued his Super Bowl prop.

His -139 odds at Caesars imply he only has a 58% chance to record over 78.5 receiving yards vs Philadelphia. He’s gone for over 95 receiving yards, however, in 88% of his playoff games since 2020. He’s also averaged 88 receiving yards per game in his two Super Bowl appearances.

Oddsmakers are clearly expecting a big game from Kelce, as they’ve instilled him as a top-three favorite in the Super Bowl MVP odds. We recommend locking in Mahomes’ favorite target at a great price before his prop odds shift leading up to the game.

Pick: Travis Kelce Over 78.5 Receiving Yards -139 (Caesars)

Pick: Chiefs vs Eagles Under 57.5 Points

Another way to wager on the Super Bowl is by betting on how many points will be scored. The official over/under for Eagles vs Chiefs at online sportsbooks is 49.5. Betting sites such as FanDuel, however, offer “alternate totals” at different odds.

We’ve uncovered a safe Super Bowl bet for Chiefs vs Eagles pertaining to an alternate game total. FanDuel is offering an alternate over/under of 57.5 points, with the “Under” juiced at -310 odds. There’s value on this bet when you analyze recent Super Bowl trends.

Since 2010, there have been 13 Super Bowls played. In all but two of those games, the two participating teams have combined to score fewer than 57.5 points (85%). The current odds at FanDuel imply there is only a 76% chance it will happen in Super Bowl 57.

This might not seem like a huge edge, but it gains more substance when you analyze recent Eagles vs Chiefs trends from this season. None of Kansas City’s past five games have featured more than 57.5 total points (100%), while just one of Philadelphia’s past five games has gone over 57.5 points (80%).

Pick: Chiefs vs Eagles Under 57.5 Points -310 (FanDuel)

How Much Can You Win Betting on the Super Bowl?

The amount of money you can win betting on the Super Bowl depends on how much you’re willing to wager. The more money you risk, the higher the potential payout.

How much you can win also depends on the odds. When it comes to safe Super Bowl bets, you’ll typically be targeting odds with a “–” sign in front of them. That indicates the player/team is a favorite.

You can win more money by betting on underdogs, which are marked with a “+” symbol in front of the odds. But those are riskier bets and require extensive research.

You can use our odds converter to calculate what the payout would be on a bet depending on how much you want to wager.  Negative odds (–) tell you what you have to bet on the favorite to win $100.

A common number in football betting is -110, so we can use it as an example. A successful $10 wager at -110 odds would net a profit of $9.09, whereas a $100 wager at -100 odds would generate a profit of $90.91.
