Excitement and drama are likely to be on the docket in Cincinnati as two high-powered attacks go head-to-head in this inter-conference clash.

The Seahawks return from a bye week sitting pretty at 3-1 for the season and having won three in a row off the back of some explosive play from the likes of DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Kenneth Walker. They dispensed with the Giants last time out two weeks ago, limiting New York to just a field goal.

Meanwhile, the Bengals breathed life into their season last week, beating the Arizona Cardinals 34-20 thanks to Joe Burrow throwing a touchdown treble and Ja’Marr Chase getting over the line three times. Burrow blossoming after a stuttering start has made this game a great deal more interesting on paper.

Put simply, both teams look to be on the up, so it’s a great time for this matchup to fall in the schedule from a viewer’s perspective. The Seahawks were initially thought to be in for a tough season after losing to the Rams in Week 1 but have rebounded as their offense clicks and Geno Smith finds his range. Smith tweaked his leg during the Week 4 win over the Giants, but head coach Pete Carroll said he was “fine” and he’s had an extended rest.

This game could be an exciting, back-and-forth affair. Seattle needs to get a monkey off its back; the Seahawks are 0-3 coming off their bye since 2020. The Bengals are a 2.5-point favorite in the early odds.

OK, so recent history says the Seahawks are cursed after a bye. But all things must pass.

The line has moved from Cincinnati -4.5 to -2.5 over the last few days. Seattle has covered the spread three times this year, including going 2-0 ATS on the road, and won ATS in their only game as an underdog of 3 points or more.

Both teams are giving up exactly 22.8 points per game so far, but the difference is on the offensive side of the ball, where Seattle averages the sixth-most points per game (27.8) while Cincinnati averages the sixth-fewest (16.6). The Seahawks have also been holding opponents to a league-low 3.2 yards per rush so far, which may force the Bengals and Burrow into a one-dimensional offense.

Both teams have potential weaknesses to exploit in their opponents’ defense here.

While the Hawks can struggle against the pass, based on this season’s past evidence, they’ll hope to find joy on the ground. Through five games, the Bengals are giving up 154 rushing yards per game, the second-worst mark in the NFL.

Walker averages 70.8 rushing yards per game this year (a team-leading 283 total) and already has five rushing touchdowns to his name, fourth-best in the league. If you like him to add to that, he can be found at a handsome +118 to score anytime with Caesars Sportsbook.
