Seahawks vs. Bengals Prediction, Picks, Odds Today: Is Cincinnati Back on Track?

After coming up with his first 300-yard passing game of the season last week, everyone wants to know if Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow has finally recovered from the calf injury that appears to have bothered him all preseason and the first quarter of this season. How will he fare against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6? Let’s look at the betting odds to see what oddsmakers think.

Seahawks vs. Bengals Prediction

Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase finally looked like arguably the league’s best QB-WR tandem in Week 5 vs. the Cardinals. The question is, was this an aberration or the beginning of a turnaround to Cincinnati’s season?

Seattle, meanwhile, returns from its bye week on a three-game win streak and needs a win to keep pace with the undefeated 49ers in the NFC West.

Burrow went from the league’s worst passer through the first four weeks — his 69.1 passer rating ranked last among qualified quarterbacks — to posing his first rating of 100 or better last week (108.1 vs. the Cardinals). And finding his favorite target — Chase — is always a good way to boost your numbers.

Chase had arguably the finest game of his career last week, setting career highs in targets (19) and receptions (15) while tying his career high with three touchdown receptions. In addition, his 192 receiving yards were the third most of his career.

The status of fellow wide receiver Tee Higgins (ribs) is uncertain. If he can’t go, expect more of the same attention spent on Chase today, especially since the Bengals are going up against a Seattle defense that has allowed 18.5 receptions per game by opposing wide receivers, the most in the NFL.

Seattle has also shown off a pass rush, with a franchise-record-tying 11 sacks in Week 4 vs. the Giants. Overall, the Seahawks are tied for fifth in the NFL with 16 sacks, all coming in their last three games.

On offense, the Seahawks are flying high, averaging over 30 PPG (32.7) during their three-game winning streak. Quarterback Geno Smith’s numbers so far are down from last season, albeit slightly, but he is putting the ball in the right hands for Seattle.

Wide receiver DK Metcalf has had either 75 receiving yards or one receiving touchdown in every game this season. Running back Kenneth Walker III has scored a rushing touchdown in three straight games and leads the team in touches with 72.

But perhaps Seattle’s biggest advantage on offense is its ability to avoid mistakes. The Seahawks have committed just one turnover all season, the fewest in the NFL.

The Bengals must be getting tired of seeing teams from the NFC West. They are in the middle of a five-game stretch in which they are playing all four teams from that division, and so far, they are 2-0, having defeated the Rams in Week 3 and the Cardinals last week. After a bye next week, Cincinnati visits San Francisco in Week 8 to close the division.

Seattle comes playing about as well as it could with its three-game win streak. But the Seahawks’ last two wins have come against the Panthers and Giants, two teams with a combined record of 1-9 this season. And while they are coming off a bye week, the Seahawks are just 7-6 under Pete Carroll in the first game out of the bye (1-2 without Russell Wilson).

Burrow appears to be getting healthy again, and that is bad news for the Seahawks, as well as the rest of the AFC North. I think there will be points in this game, so the over is my pick for this matchup.
