The 2023 NFL preseason is finally underway, but bettors have been looking much further into the future and wagering on the winner of Super Bowl LVIII for months now. In fact, odds for every team to win next year’s Super Bowl actually came out this past January, before Super Bowl LVII between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs was played.
The Chiefs are the consensus favorites (+600 at DraftKings Sportsbook), followed by the Eagles (+650) and Bills (+900).
I’ve been talking to sportsbook directors this offseason to find out some of the notable Super Bowl LVIII future wagers that have been placed already. Surprisingly, the Las Vegas Raiders own the bet with the single largest liability.
In Las Vegas, the public still bets with its heart — and that means supporting the Raiders.
“The Raiders have moved from 40-1 to 25-1, which is no surprise,” Chris Andrews, South Point sportsbook director told me. “A lot of local public play, the Raiders are a big liability for us.”
The story was the same at Station Casinos, as the Raiders had the most number of bets to win the Super Bowl.
“For us, the three typical teams — Jets, Eagles and Giants — have been getting Super Bowl action,” Thomas Gable, sportsbook director at The Borgata in New Jersey, told me. “The Jets have been the most popular play, even outpacing the Eagles. They have the most bets and tickets to win the Super Bowl.”
The Jets were the biggest liability to win the Super Bowl at Caesars Sportsbook as well.
Gable also noted that America’s Team was drawing plenty of attention this season.
“The other surprising team we’ve been getting a lot of bets on is the Dallas Cowboys, now at 16-1. They have the second-most dollars wagered to win the Super Bowl and they’re up there in liability with the Jets.”
We’ll keep this page updated throughout the season, so be sure to check back often.
