Newbury racing tips

1.50: Highland Avenue 7/2 1pt

Quite easy to side with the Godolphin horse in this bet365 Stakes over 1m2f.

Al Aasy is the short-priced favourite but is difficult to back at that price given his Royal Ascot flop, even if he's bouncing back to previous form.

William Buick and Charlie Appleby have a good strike rate overall over the last two weeks and at this course, so should be fancied in the market in the morning of the race.

2.25: Hadrianus 9/1 - 0.5pt each-way

Worth backing something here each-way in what is a great Class 2 Handicap but it's often easy to find a horse that will finish in the places, with many bookies paying extra places.

One that's bound to finish in the top six or so will be those who might prefer softer conditions as there's rain forecast throughout the weekend but isn't set to start until 1pm.

Hadrianus has been there and there abouts on two occasions this season in listed races on both good and soft ground, and due to the calibre of those races has to be fancied to make the most of a three-year-old allowance, especially at an each-way price.

He's rated 101 but will only carry 9-0 with Oisin Murphy also booked to ride and that can make the difference, on just his second run over 2m.

Showed he has potential over that distance coming seventh at Newcastle and has placed well behind 111-rated Gregory and 109-rated Epictetus, when carrying the same weight.

3.00: Rumstar 12/1 0.25pt e/w & Lezoo 5/1 - 0.25pt each-way

Frankie Dettori takes the reins of this impressive Ralph Beckett filly who has only been seen in Group 1 contests in her last three runs.

Winning ahead of Meditate over this distance at Newmarket in September before returning this season on lesser form, but each coming with excuses.

There's no reason she won't bounce back here either over her preferred distance, though she may not like softer ground but that's part of the gamble today.

Rumstar has also improved greatly and gets a chance in the weights on just his tenth start and only fifth over this distance.

He improved at Royal Ascot to come a close fifth and as a Havana Grey horse could cope with the conditions.

3.35: Juniper Berries 13/2 - 0.25pt each-way

It's key not to overthink this race for two-year-olds over the sprint distance of 5f, which could be very unpredictable, as all of these horses have shown promise at high levels.

There's plenty to like about the favourite given the three runs to her name so far, including last time out - nearly making it three wins from three when a nose second to Crimson Advocate from 26 runners in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot.

But even in another massive field you wouldn't feel to comfortable backing such a short price with many in this field unexposed still.

Juniper Berries has been close enough behind Relief Rally on two occasions but has the advantage at the weight this time which could spark a win under David Probert, but only for small stakes in an highly competitive contest.

Curragh racing tips

3.10: Pearls And Rubies 11/10 - 1pt

Ryan Moore takes the ride on this horse for Aidan O'Brien and it's clear she's the favourite for this Group 3 Anglesey Stakes over 6f.

She was beaten by just a head at Royal Ascot last time out in the Chesham Stakes as the 7/4 favourite.

The No Nay Never filly should improve nicely for that on her third run and looked very well suited to the increased distance.

Takes on an unexposed field but the market signs will be there and it's unlikely there will be a huge surprise in this one.

3.10: Go Athletico 9/2 - 1pt

Art Power won here in the Greenlands Stakes in incredible fashion, beating Big Gossey by well over four lengths and that could have been much more.

David Allan is often seen on this horse but had Oisin Murphy on board on that big run, though he's not seen often over 5f which could be a concern.

However, Go Athletico stands a great chance under Colin Keane having won here on his first run for trainer Adrian McGuinness beating Ano Syra in style despite carrying a 8lb more.

Those weights are kinder here though and should make the most of that in what's likely to be favourable conditions.

3.45: Savethelastdance 5/6 NAP - 2pt & Warm Heart, Exacta - 1pt

Savethelastdance made all two starts ago at Chester and was the talk of racing at the time, given her 22 length success.

But she couldn't quite get there when it mattered in the Oaks at Epsom on Derby Festival weekend, being beaten by nearly two lengths to Soul Sister.

She was outpaced going into the final 400 yards and did rally but the damage from the pacey Soul Sister was already done.

They didn't post particularly strong times in that race but it did seem the Aidan O'Brien-trained horse wasn't quite at the same level she was at Chester, and has to be fancied to put that right.

Albeit marginally ahead of the other O'Brien-trained horse who has come on exceptionally well to win three on the bounce.

Last time out was her first time stepping up in trip to this distance and she relished it beating Lumiere Rock in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Upped 15lb for that success and Moore opts for the former, it all points to another 1-2 for the O'Brien team.
