UFC Fight Night 224 Main Card and Odds (Odds via BetOnline as of Monday, July 17)

UFC Fight Night 224 Main Event: Tom Aspinall (-550) vs. Marcin Tybura (+400)

This weekend’s UFC Fight Night card will be headlined by a heavyweight main event between Tom Aspinall (12-3) and Marcin Tybura (24-7). It’s a showdown that could affect the heavyweight rankings considering that Aspinall and Tybura are the No. 5 and No. 10 fighters, respectively.

Aspinall took the UFC by storm when he debuted in 2020, earning a first-round TKO win over Jake Collier in the ‘performance of the night.’ He then went on to finish his next four opponents, beating names like Alexander Volkov and Andrei Arlovski.

Unfortunately, Aspinall’s impressive run came to an end at the O2 Arena nearly one year ago. He took on Curtis Blaydes in the main event of UFC Fight Night 208 but suffered a knee injury just 15 seconds into the fight.

Meanwhile, Tybura is in search of his biggest win to date. After a shaky start to his own UFC career, the 37-year-old veteran is now 7-1 in his last eight fights. He’s picked up back-to-back wins over Alexander Romanov and Blagoy Ivanov in his last two fights, winning both outings by decision.

UFC Fight Night 224 Co-Main Event: Molly McCann (-204) vs. Julija Stoliarenko (+174)

Molly McCann (13-5) returns to her home country to take on Julija Stoliarenko (10-7-2) in this weekend’s co-main event.

McCann’s UFC run has mixed thus far. After a back-and-forth 3-3 start, she won three straight fights between September 2021 and July 2022, which included a pair of knockout victories over Luana Carolina and Hannah Goldy. Unfortunately, McCann lost her most recent outing, submitting to Erin Blanchfield’s kimura hold back in November.

Stoliarenko also hopes to turn her luck around at UFC Fight Night. She’s coming off a disappointing TKO loss to Chelsea Chandler at UFC Vegas 61. Stoliarenko is now 1-4 in her last five fights, leaving her future in the promotion up in the air if she’s unsuccessful once more.

Featherweight: Nathaniel Wood (-210) vs. Andre Fili (+180)

This weekend’s card also features a featherweight fight between Nathaniel Wood (19-5) and Andre Fili (22-9, 1NC).

Wood hasn’t had any issues fitting into the UFC, 6-2 in his first eight fights. He’s also gone 2-0 since joining the featherweight division last year, notching back-to-back unanimous decision victories over Charles Rosa and Charles Jourdain.

Meanwhile, Fili hasn’t been able to get any consistent momentum going. He’s 2-3 with a no-contest in his previous six bouts, however, his most recent outing saw him notch a split-decision win against Bill Algeo 10 months ago.

Middleweight: Paul Craig (+208) vs. Andre Muniz (-243)

Paul Craig (16-6-1) hopes to put his losing ways behind him when he takes on Andre Muniz (23-5) at UFC Fight Night 224.

For a second, Craig’s outlook was promising. He was on a four-fight winning streak until last July, when he lost to Volkan Oezdemir by unanimous decision at the O2 Arena. Much to his dismay, Craig couldn’t rebound from that loss, losing to Johnny Walker via TKO six months later.

Muniz’s UFC career started off flawlessly, racking up victories in each of his first seven fights. His flirting with perfection came to an end back in February when Muniz was caught in Brendan Allen’s rear-naked chokehold, left with no option but to submit.

Lightweight: Jai Herbert (+135) vs. Fares Ziam (-155)

One fight that’s shaping up to be a close one is the lightweight scrap between Jai Herbert (12-4-1) and Fares Ziam (13-4).

Herbert has been fighting to mixed results lately, going 2-3-1 in his previous six outings. The draw during that stretch actually occurred in his latest outing four months ago at UFC 286 in London, when he fought Ľudovit Klein to a majority draw.

At the same time, Ziam is feeling good about himself. After losing his debut, the ‘Smile Killer’ won three of his subsequent four fights. He hasn’t fought in quite some time, though, most recently overcoming Michal Figlak by unanimous decision back in September.

Featherweight: Lerone Murphy (-150) vs. Joshua Culibao (+130)

Lastly, the UFC Fight Night main card will see Lerone Murphy (12-0-1) and Joshua Culibao (11-1-1) going head-to-head in a featherweight fight.

Nobody has come close to stopping Murphy, who’s won four straight fights ahead of his London return. Two of those victories came via KO/TKO while the other pair were earned by points. Furthermore, Murphy is 9-0 all-time when he fights in England.

Having said that, Culibao has an impressive résumé, too, having only lost once in his career. He’s been victorious in each of his last three bouts, submitting Melsik Baghdasaryan at UFC 284 in his latest outing.

UFC Fight Night 224 Preliminary Card and Odds

Bantamweight: Davey Grant (+118) vs. Daniel Marcos (-138)

The UFC Fight Night 224 preliminary card’s main event is a bantamweight clash between Davey Grant (15-6) and Daniel Marcos (14-0).

Grant, the home country hero, has finished his last two opponents, knocking out Louis Smolka before defeating Raphael Assuncao via technical submission 10 months later. Meanwhile, the undefeated Marcos is 2-0 in the UFC thus far, most recently KO’ing Saimon Oliveira at UFC 283.

Welterweight: Danny Roberts (-105) vs. Jonny Parsons (-115)

The upcoming welterweight collision between Danny Roberts (18-7) and Jonny Parsons (7-3) is shaping up to be a close one judging by the odds.

Roberts dropped to 2-4 in his last six fights with a knockout loss to Jack Della Maddalena at UFC Vegas 65. On the flip side, Parsons heads into London riding a five-fight winning streak. Having said that, the Las Vegas native hasn’t fought since taking part in Dana White’s Contender Series 2021.

Heavyweight: Mick Parkin (+125) vs. Jonny Parsons (-145)

The undefeated Mick Parkin (6-0) is the slight underdog ahead of his heavyweight bout with Jonny Parsons (10-3) this weekend.

Parkin continued his undefeated run on DWCS 2021, using a rear-naked choke on Eduardo Jose Neves to notch his first-ever submission victory. Standing in Parkin’s way of more success is Parsons, who improved to 4-0 at the UFC level with a unanimous decision win over Josh Parisian earlier this year.

Middleweight: Makhmud Muradov (-330) vs. Bryan Barberena (+270)

No other UFC Fight Night matchup has more lopsided odds than the middleweight fight between Makhmud Muradov (25-8) and Bryan Barberena (18-10).

Muradov could use a bounce-back performance after back-to-back losses to Gerald Meerschaert and Caio Borralho. He’s not the only one, though. After all, Barberena has also lost two fights, including when he was submitted by Gunnar Nelson in London earlier this year.

Women’s Bantamweight: Ketlen Vieira (-156) vs. Pannie Kianzad (+136)

Ketlen Vieira (13-3) will try to stop Pannie Kianzad (16-6) from continuing her impressive run when the duo steps inside the cage Saturday.

Vieira has an opportunity to prove her worth as she attempts to rebound from her split-decision loss to Raquel Pennington at UFC Fight Night 217. At the same time, Kianzad has started to turn heads after going 5-1 in her latest six outings, picking up each victory by unanimous decision.

Lightweight: Chris Duncan (-145) vs. Yanal Ashmouz (+125)

One fight that’s shaping up to be a hard-hitting meeting is the one between Chris Duncan (10-1) and Yanal Ashmouz (7-0).

After suffering his first career loss, Duncan is back on track, grabbing his third straight victory with UFC 286’s split-decision win against Omar Morales. Asmouz made his debut that same night, remaining undefeated with a first-round KO against Sam Patterson.

Women’s Strawweight: Shauna Bannon (+130) vs. Bruna Brasil (-150)

The third women’s bout at UFC Fight Night 224 sees Shauna Bannon (5-0) clashing with Bruna Brasil (8-3-1) in strawweight action.

Bannon is set to make her debut after beginning her MMA career with two TKO victories and another three by unanimous decision. She’ll look to take advantage of Brasil following the latter’s TKO loss to Denise Gomes just three months ago.

Flyweight: Jafel Filho (-132) vs. Daniel Barez (+112)

Lastly, UFC fans won’t want to miss the flyweight fight between Jafel Filho (14-3) and Daniel Barez (16-5).

Filho had his first PPV bout at UFC 286, but it didn’t go the way he planned, submitting to Muhammad Mokaev in the third round. He’s up against Barez, who’s making his return after finishing each of his last four opponents (three by TKO, one by submission) after losing to Carlos Hernandez on DWCS 2021.
