World Cup Group B preview: England, Iran, United States, Wales

England are favourites to win Group B at the World Cup. They will play Iran, USA and Wales. Iran will be looking to upset the odds. The United States have a point to prove after missing out four years ago. Wales are looking for their first World cup win since 1958.

Gareth Southgate's England team is preparing for the World Cup in Qatar. England won eight of their 10 games in qualifying to top the group. They finished second in the European Championship last year. Southgates team has struggled recently, but they finished in semi-final in 2018.

Iran have reached the semi-finals of the 2019 Asian Cup and will play at the World Cup in Qatar. Carlos Queiroz's team have a number of players playing in Europe's top leagues. Iran have won their last two World Cups under the former Portugal boss.

The United States have returned to the World Cup after their record of qualifying for seven consecutive tournaments ended. USA were a surprise omission from the tournament four years ago but they got back on track with two final appearances in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2019 and 2021. They secured their place in Qatar by a matter of goal difference with a third-place finish in North American qualifying earlier this year.

Wales are preparing for their first World Cup since 1966. They finished as runners-up in their qualifying group and won play-offs to earn their place in Qatar. Gareth Bale is their talisman. They are in Group B with England, Iran, United States and Wales.

England, Iran, United States and Wales are in World Cup Group B. They play each other on Monday, November 21 at 7pm.
