2022 Kentucky Derby horses that can beat 3-1 favorite Zandon

The current points system used to determine Derby qualifiers started in 2013. Post-time favorites have landed in the superfecta payout all nine years.

Louisiana Derby winner didn't make it to the Kentucky Derby favorite list.

Epicenter is a bay son of Not This Time. He's won four of his past five races. Steve Asmussen is 0 for 23 in the Kentucky Derby. Epicenter beat third-place Zandon by 3 lengths in their only meeting on February 19.

Messier won the Grade 3 Robert Lewis on Feb. 6 but was beaten by Taiba in the Santa Anita Derby. Tim Yakteen's horse hasn't raced in two months. Classic Causeway and Summer Is Tomorrow are expected to set the pace. Messier and Epicenter could be gunning for the lead with a quarter-mile to go.

Zandon is the favorite for this year's Kentucky Derby. Taiba has won both of his races. Leonatus in 1883 was the only horse to win the Derby after two races, Taibai faced just six other horses in his maiden victory and five others in the Santa Anita Derby, whereas Zandon will face 19 other animals.

White Abarrio is a favorite for the Kentucky Derby. He is 4-0-1 in five career starts. All of his wins came at Gulfstream Park. His only loss was at Churchill. White Abrrio finished third in the Jockey Club last November.
