2022 NBA Awards Predictions with Odds and Analysis

The 2021-22 NBA regular season has concluded. The NBA playoffs are already underway. Voters have cast their votes for the NBA awards, including MVP and Rookie of the Year. There is no official date for NBA Awards, but we have at least a month to speculate on who will win each award.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is the favorite to win NBA MVP in 2022. Joel Embiid was the previous favorite, but Nikola Jokic has surpassed him. The Milwaukee Bucks finished ahead of Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers. The Bucks won the championship. It's the third time Anteokunmpi has won NBA Player of the Year. He was not a finalist for Defensive Player Of The Year award.

Scottie Barnes is the favorite to win NBA Rookie of the Year. Evan Mobley is second favorite, with Cade Cunningham third. The Toronto Raptors went 16-9 to move to the No. 5 seed and the Cleveland Cavaliers went 9-15 and missed the playoffs. Neither Mobly nor Barnes are their team's star player, but they're impact players. After the all-star break, Mobleys averaged 21.1 points, 6.5 assists, and 5.7 rebounds. Cunningham averaged 21 points after the break.

Marcus Smart is the favorite to win NBA Defensive Player of the Year. Rudy Gobert has won the award three of last four years. Smart's Celtics team is in the bottom half of steals. Tyler Herro is the favorite to win NBA Sixth Man of the Year. He averaged nearly 22 points this season. His play tailed off after the all-star break, but he picked it up after late-season stretch.

Herro finished the season averaging 20.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. Kevin Love's play has been trending down in the last few years, but he looked much better off the bench. Cameron Johnson is way behind Herro in Sixth Man of the Year race.

Dejounte Murray is the favorite to win NBA Most Improved Player. He had a breakout season with the San Antonio Spurs. His team finished 14 games under .500. The Cleveland Cavaliers were the biggest surprise. Memphis Grizzlies became an NBA Finals contender. Jordan Poole was not a finalist. Ja Morant is a favorite. Many people disagree with finalists. Dejarde is willing to put team record aside to get the award.

Jaren Jackson Jr. led the league in blocks, blocks per game and blocks + steals. DBane0625 took a big leap this season and should be on the MIP list instead of Jackson.

Monty Williams is a big favorite to win the NBA Coach of the Year award. The Phoenix Suns had a great 2020-21 season and advanced to the Finals. Erik Spoelstra of Miami Heat and Taylor Jenkins of Memphis Grizzlies are the other finalists. The Grizzlies won 56 games and set a franchise record. Memphis won without Ja Morant. He deserved to be considered for the award, but he was injured.

Taylor Jenkins led the Grizzlies to the 2nd best record in the NBA and first division title in Grizzlies history.

The 2022 NBA award predictions are a good mix of favorites and value bets. Tyler Herro and Monty Williams don't provide any value, but it's hard to see them losing their respective awards. Scottie Barnes and Dejounte Murray are the underdogs.
