2023 MLB first-half odds, trends: Reds, Orioles two most profitable betting teams entering All-Star break

We've arrived at MLB's All-Star break, and the two most profitable teams in the first half from a moneyline betting perspective were the Cincinnati Reds and Baltimore Orioles.

For about the first month or so, the Reds were money-losers for anyone who backed them on a daily basis. They started 7-15, but enter the break at 50-41 and lead he NL Central by one game over Milwaukee. It's the first time Cincinnati has in first place at the All-Star break since 2010, when it was 49-41 and led the Cardinals by a game. The Reds would win the division title and are now trying to become the first team to win a division after losing at least 100 games the season before.

Cincinnati's over/under win total is now set at 84.5; it was 65.5 in the spring. There are five divisions in which the first-place team has at most a two-game, including ties. That's the most divisions with that tight a race at the All-Star break since MLB went to six divisions in 1994.

Cincinnati leads the majors with 33 comeback wins, including 17 in the final at-bat. Yet only closer Alexis Diaz was named to the All-Star team, the first Reds reliever to make it since Aroldis Chapman in 2015, and the first right-handed reliever since Francisco Cordero in 2009. Current Reds infielder Elly De La Cruz will likely be an All-Star many times in the coming years and is battling Arizona's Corbin Carroll for NL Rookie of the Year honors.

The Reds have returned approximately $1650 to any bettors who have wagered on their moneyline to win every game, the highest such total in the majors. Cincinnati also has the best runline record at 58-33 (63.7% cover).

The Orioles are second at $1450 won on the season and second in runline cover rate at 60.7% (54-35). Miami at $1075 is the only other team north of $1000 won.
