2023 RSM Classic odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions

The PGA Tour will wrap up the FedExCup Fall this week with the RSM Classic, the final event on the 2022-23 schedule. Sea Island Resort will once again host this tournament, splitting the 4 days between the Seaside and Plantation courses.

Below, we look at the 2023 RSM Classic odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions.

Ludvig Aberg is once again the favorite this week, as he has been in several events this fall. He’s listed at +1400 to win the RSM Classic, with Russell Henley, Brian Harman and Cameron Young all tied for the 2nd-best odds at +1800. Last year’s champion, Adam Svensson, is +3300 to defend his title in St. Simons Island, Georgia.

The RSM Classic will be played on the Seaside and Plantation courses this week. Players will tee it up on each course once on Thursday and Friday, and those who make the cut will play 36 holes on the Seaside course on Saturday and Sunday. Neither course is particularly long – 7,060 yards for the Plantation course and 7,005 yards for the Seaside course – with the Seaside track being a links-style course along the ocean.

Brian Harman (+1800)

Harman has played this event 11 times and only missed the cut 3 times, finishing in the top 10 three times, as well. He tied for 2nd here last year and though he hasn’t played this fall besides the Ryder Cup, he’s an excellent fit for this course.

Eric Cole (+2500)

Cole has been on a tear lately. He hasn’t missed a cut since May, he’s finished in the top 5 three times in his last 4 starts and in his most recent tournament, he tied for 2nd in the Zozo Championship. His odds are pretty short, but he’s due for his 1st PGA Tour win soon, and it could come this week.

RSM Classic picks – Contenders

Akshay Bhatia (+5000)

It’s somewhat surprising to see Bhatia’s odds this long after he was among the favorites last week. His last 3 starts have been T-21, T-10 and T-20, really finding a groove this fall. He finished 45th here last year but having played the tournament twice, he has some experience on these 2 courses.

Alex Smalley (+4500)

Smalley has played this event twice, missing the cut in 2021 before finishing T-5 last year. He’s made 4 straight cuts this season and most recently tied for 30th in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship last week.

RSM Classic picks – Long shots

Will Gordon (+10000)

Gordon tied for 10th here in 2020 before missing the cut in 2021. He returned last year with a T-15 finish, proving to be a good fit at Sea Island Resort. In his last 2 starts this fall, he finished T-21 and T-15.

Kevin Kisner (+12500)

Kisner is a long shot given his struggles this season, but he won this event in 2015 and has had 3 other top-10 finishes here since then. Kisner finished T-29 here last year, shooting 3 straight rounds of 67 from Friday to Sunday.
