We are now at the halfway point of the NHL season and the Stanley Cup odds have changed a lot. Who would’ve thought that it would be two Canadian teams in the Winnipeg Jets and Vancouver Canucks leading the way?

Let’s take a look at the current NHL Stanley Cup odds, best bets and long shots for the upcoming 2023-2024 postseason.

2024 Stanley Cup Odds: Colorado Avalanche, Boston Bruins among favorites to win championship

2024 Stanley Cup odds, preview and predictions: Colorado Avalanche (+750 or better)

The Colorado Avalanche have been one of the best teams over the past few seasons (including a Stanley Cup win), and that has not changed this year. They are led by Nathan Mackinnon who is a top contender to win the Hart Trophy this season. He has 72 points in just 45 games. However, the Avs have plenty more high-end talent to complement their top star.

Mikko Rantanen and Cale Makar are also top-five players at their positions. Makar is well over a point per game with 52 points in 40 games, shocking numbers for a defenceman. The Avalanche are as well rounded as they come and can score with the best of them. They should once again be a threat come postseason.

2024 Stanley Cup best bets: Boston Bruins (+1100 or better)

Heading into this year, the Bruins were a popular pick for a team to fall off the map. That has not happened at all as they are currently right up there in terms of Stanley Cup odds. They are powered by a strong goaltending duo and good defensive play. Offensively, they aren’t quite as deep as some of the other top teams, but they do have David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand who are still among the elite players in this league.

The Bruins had a wonderful regular season last year before losing in the first round of the playoffs. Perhaps a more manageable pace in this year’s regular season will help them have more left in the tank during the postseason.

2024 Stanley Cup long shot pick: Toronto Maple Leafs (+1300 or better)

There are eight teams with better odds than the Toronto Maple Leafs right now. That seems ludicrous for a team that features several of the most talented offensive players in the league. While the Maple Leafs’ goaltending has been shaky, Martin Jones has been a good discovery and is helping by giving them strong performances in the crease.

The Maple Leafs still lack some depth at scoring, as well as defensive presence, but their offensive talent is second to none. At +1300, you’re getting a team that was one of the preseason favorites but has just struggled to find their game over the first half of the season.
