2024 Super Bowl odds, prediction: 49ers vs. Chiefs early pick

Super Bowl 2024 odds have been set, and the matchup is as star-studded as they come.

BetMGM Sportsbook is placing the San Francisco 49ers as one point favorites against Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs in a game featuring the two best teams in the sport.

The total is set at 47.5 total points on BetMGM. Meanwhile, the 49ers are –120 on the moneyline, with the Chiefs sitting at +100.

Spread bets coming in on the Chiefs has moved considerably since opening, as the 49ers were bet down from -2.5 point favorites to -1 on Sunday. San Francisco was -135 at opening but has moved considerably as well.

Amazingly enough, the San Francisco 49ers have not closed as underdogs yet this season, but bettors could make that a reality as money flows in on the defending champions.

San Francisco was last an underdog in last year’s NFC Championship game, where they were three-point underdogs against the Eagles, a game they lost 31-7 after quarterback Brock Purdy and backup Josh Johnson were injured.

Super Bowl 2024 odds: Chiefs vs. 49ers

Kansas City advanced to the Super Bowl after they broke the Ravens from start to finish on Sunday, forcing Lamar Jackson and company to run the ball only 16 times, compared to a whopping 37 pass attempts – their second-highest total of the season.

The Chiefs looked to Travis Kelce on Sunday, who ended the game with 11 catches while also setting the tone early with a game-opening touchdown.

Andy Reid’s group was missing key offensive lineman Joe Thuney on Sunday and will look to get healthy with two weeks to rest up for Super Bowl 2024.

There are no significant injuries to speak of the 49ers, though, as Deebo Samuel, who was feared to be facing a long-term injury after the divisional round, was fed a steady diet of snaps against the Lions.

Christian McCaffrey did take a nasty hit at the back end of the fourth quarter, landing on his head and neck.

He was seen getting a neck massage after the play, but he looked to be fine celebrating the NFC Championship victory.

“We got one more,” McCaffrey screamed on the podium after their come-from-behind victory.

Fading the line movement is a powerful move that a bettor can take advantage of – as the 49ers have ranked as one of the best teams in the NFL according to Aaron Schatz’s DVOA statistics.

Look for San Francisco to run the ball down Kansas City’s throats and pull of a Super Bowl win on Feb. 11.

THE PICK: 49ers -1 (-120, BetMGM)
