3 best NBA teams to bet the OVER on in the 2022-23 season

Offense is way up in the 2022-23 NBA season, as every team has an offensive rating of at least 109.0 so far this season.

To compare to just the 2021-22 season, this year’s No. 30 offensive rating (the Houston Rockets at 109.2) would rank 25th in offensive rating last season. When you go back five seasons?

Well, this Houston team’s offensive rating would be No. 8 in the NBA!

The Rockets haven’t been good on offense, so they haven’t been an elite team to bet the OVER on this season.

Vegas has adjusted for the uptick in offense, setting totals higher than ever, and only 13 of the 30 NBA teams have hit the OVER in more than 50.0 percent of their games.

Let’s dive into the top three at the All-Star break:

Best NBA teams to bet the OVER on

Golden State Warriors

  • OVER record: 35-21-2

It’s no surprise that the Warriors are an OVER machine, as they rank No. 1 in the league in pace this season and love to shoot the 3-ball.

The Warriors have also struggled at times defensively, specifically on the road, helping them hit the OVER in 62.5 percent of their games this season. As a road team this year, Golden State is 21-6-1 on the OVER, a 77.8 percent rate.

Even with Steph Curry out, the Warriors have put up big scoring numbers, so they continue to be one of the best OVER teams to wager on.

Philadelphia 76ers

  • OVER record: 33-23-1

The Sixers are a team that’s going to have a lot of lower totals, mainly because the team plays at the No. 26 pace in the NBA. Philly is also a top-10 team in defensive rating, but it still has found its way to its fair share of OVERs this season.

However, oddsmakers may have adjusted a bit since James Harden has returned for Philly. The Sixers hit the OVER in seven straight games to start 2023, but they are just 7-7-1 since then.

Oklahoma City Thunder

  • OVER record: 33-24

Not only are the Thunder the best team ATS in the NBA, but they have a great OVER record as well.

Like the Warriors, OKC loves to push the pace, ranking third in the NBA this season. While the team isn’t super efficient on offense (13th in offensive rating), it still is in the top half of the league.

As long as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander keeps scoring at an absurd rate, the Thunder are a great OVER bet.

San Antonio Spurs

  • OVER record: 33-24-2

The Spurs get an honorable mention here, as they’ve hit the OVER in the same number of games as OKC, they just have two pushes on the season as well.

San Antonio’s offense is bad, but the team ranks dead last in the NBA in defensive and net rating. As long as the Spurs keep tanking like this, their opponents should light up the scoreboard night in and night out.
