THE Aidan O'Brien-trained Southern France is the market leader for the Queen's Vase on Wednesday.

The lightly-raced colt has won his last two starts in Ireland, including a cosy win in the Listed Yeats Stakes on May 19.

Last year, John Gosden saddled Stradivarius to win the Queen's Vase, and that horse will be among the favourites when he contests the Gold Cup at Ascot tomorrow.

This time around, he trains the current second favourite Stream Of Stars who broke his maiden in good style at Ascot last time.

The promising Cross Counter is also prominent in the betting for Derby-winning trainer Charlie Appleby.

Champion trainer O'Brien has trained the winner of this race five times and will also be represented by the classy pair Kew Gardens and Nelson.
