6 Observations from JMU’s 42-20 Win Over Arkansas State

From now on, I will only be providing weekly observations on JMU games involving at least one team ranked in the AP Top 25.

JMU beat Arkansas State 42-20 on the road. JMU's head coach, Curt Cignetti, believes that winning on road is necessary. JU's fans are from West Virginia. WVU has lost many road games in the past. Arkansas is ranked 92nd in total defense. The Red Wolves took the lead early.

JMU moved from the CAA to the Sun Belt. JMU's 2022 schedule has played out with a lot of new names and faces. Arkansas State is a new team. They are 1-1 against ODU and UL-Monroe. This year, J MU will take one trip per year out to Western Division. It's nice to put names to faces and see the team's record.

Arkansas State won 42-20 over JMU. Arkansas State quarterback James Blackmon was incredible. JUM's pocket pressure was the key to their victory.   It's refreshing to play against teams who can do this.

JMU won the game 42-20 over Arkansas State. RPOs and tight ends were the difference-maker on Offense. Drew Painter and Zach Horton had career nights. Percy had a career finish.

Camden Wise is 2-for-6 on field goals this season. He has a season-long mark of 27 yards. Cignetti supports Wise. JMU is likely to be in a position where it needs three points before the end of the season and has no confidence in its ability to get that three.

The James Madison Dukes are ranked in the AP Top 25 this week. The ranking is a validation of the great work of players, coaches and athletic staffers. It's also a boost to the university, which will receive a record number of applications this fall and next. However, the ranking isn't the end goal, it's a result of excellence.
