The fifth season of the Dan Hurley era at UConn starts Monday night. The Uconn men's basketball team welcomes Stonehill Skyhawks to the XL Center to kick off the 2022-23 season. It will be the Skyhawk's first game as a Division I team.

Hassan Diarra and Tristen Newton are still battling for the starting point guard spot. Adama Sanogo, Samson Johnson, Alex Karaban and Donovan Clingan are all taller than 6-foot-8. Joey Calcaterra brings experience and 3-point shooting to the bench. The game could get out of hand early, so Hurley will turn to his bench to finish the game. The match-up will be played at Stonehill. It's a step up for Clingsan from high school. He was playing high-school players. His ability to handle better, more experienced players could be a barometer for how much he will play the rest of the season.

Stonehill is fresh out of Division II and will play UConn on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Andrew Sims and Max Zegarowski are the main threats for Stonehill. Isaiah Burnett, a Navy transfer, brings Division I experience and size. Thatcher Stone is a William & Mary transfer.
