76ers vs Hornets Prediction

The Philadelphia 76ers travel to the Spectrum Center to do battle with the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night.

The Philadelphia 76ers have been in great form as they’ve reeled off seven wins in their last eight games and they will be gunning for an eighth straight win after beating the Cavaliers in a 118-109 road win on Wednesday. Joel Embiid led the team with 36 points, 18 rebounds and four blocks, James Harden added 28 points with 12 assists while Tyrese Maxey chipped in with 23 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 52 percent from the field and 17 of 36 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble when they allowed 36 points in the second quarter to fall behind going into halftime, before they dominated the second half by 63-49 to win comfortably in the end.

Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in a real slump as they’ve lost six of their past eight games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a three-game slide after getting thrashed by the Cavaliers in a 120-104 loss on Tuesday. Kelly Oubre Jr. led the team with 28 points on 11 of 17 shooting, Terry Rozier added 22 points with nine assists while Gordon Hayward chipped in with 10 points. As a team, the Hornets shot 56 percent from the field and six of 23 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep pace with the Cavaliers and fell behind by as many as 26 points in the third quarter before they finished with a flurry in the fourth quarter to keep it from being a complete blowout.

Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team below .400 and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games playing on one days rest. The Hornets are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record.

Head to head, the over is 9-3-1 in the last 13 meetings overall and the 76ers are 0-3-1 ATS in the last four meetings in Charlotte.

The 76ers could be shorthanded here as Jalen McDaniels is listed as questionable, while the Hornets are still without LaMelo Ball. The 76ers have quietly been one of the hottest teams in the league and they will be full of confidence after blowing past the Cavaliers on Wednesday for their seventh straight win. The Hornets have shown signs of life with a couple of wins in their past five games, but they’ve cooled off again and they are only 1-4 ATS in their last five home games. With that being said, I’ll side with the 76ers to maintain their momentum with a win and cover here.
