$8.50 value bet: Graeme Carey's tips, analysis for Doomben

The Summer Carnival is upon us with the Listed Keith Noud the feature. Doomben plays to front runners, on a good surface with a rail true all horses should get their chance. Mares in form have been good to Graeme Carey of late.

ABOUNDING (2) was dominant at both trials and Ben Thompson has had no hesitation in taking the mount. SKIRT THE LAW (5) didn't show up at her trial but Tony Gollan doesn't put Ryan Maloney on for nothing. SALT LAKE BETTY (4) did enough in her trials.

$8.50 value bet is a market watch. Trial form says ABOUND (2).

There is a small field for the Open Handicap 2200m at Doomben. SO DAPPER (5) is in the field. OTYRAR (3) ran him down at Eagle Farm. Sam Collett stays on with only a 0.5kg swing in weights. STARDOME (1) has been in good form since resuming. LIGULATE (2) failed at his only previous attempt at this trip.

Strategic Position (4) disappointed in his first outing for Tony Gollan but has a much better record second-up. Matt Smith has brought the speedy Way to the Stars (5) North, but the racing gods have thrown him a curve ball with an outside gate. Ryan Maloney's ZINGALONG (6) broke a long drought with a dominant win at the Sunshine Coast.

Lee Freedman had a good run with GUILIA (7) last preparation. BOLD AND LUCY (5) wasn't helped by the wide gate when resuming. Ryan Wiggins doesn't get many Saturday rides and will be looking to make the most of this. Confessed (3) has been knocking on the door at recent outings. Andrew Mallyon gets back on and he will hit the line. Zoukina (1) rarely runs poorly and has a record at this track.

DRIVE A DEEL (5) has won her past three races. TOO MUCH CLASS (8) is another mare in form having won three of her last five starts. Last Saturday's winner Losing Kiss (3) had his first outing from a let-up last week at the Gold Coast and was too good. SLOW HANDS (2) doesn't win out of turn but Doomben is his favourite track.

Ekaterina (4) is improving with each outing. Count DA BEANS (7) has found one better at both outings this preparation. Northern Express (1) ran around greenly late last start. Stroll (2) was a Listed winner last preparation and has had a quiet trial.

Ekaterina (4) will round up the Doombens.

There is a capacity field for the 7th race at Doomben. Menziesz (5) found trouble last time but will strip fitter and Jim Orman can keep him out of trouble. Alburq (3) shook off the non-winners tag last start when having his first Queensland outing for Brian Smith. OCEAN EMPEROR (12) has always promised more than delivered.

SALATEEN (8) is unbeaten at this track and has a recent trial win. Garibaldi (4) has had a freshen-up after a brave effort from a wide gate in the Weetwood at Toowoomba. HOLYFIELD (2) won the Listed Eye Liner last preparation and is ready to go. Last Chance (6) hasn't won for a while but he has won twice here previously.

Extremist (10) has won her past three races. Arnie (7) won a recent trial and with Ryan Maloney will get every chance. Entrprise POMME (9) showed promise last preparation winning two of four starts. Boris Thornton can find cover for Entrypuce (4) who rises 4kg. Orbiys (5) fell in when resuming and has only won five of seven starts in Saturday grade.

Graeme Carey's advice for Doomben is to stay with the mare in form.
