Preview, Tips and Best Bets for Ipswich Wednesday, October 5

Good gates and luck in running often make the difference at Ipswich. The tight track favours front-runners. Narnia is the best bet in Race 8 No 15.

Jim Orman will have SARSEN (1) handy to the speed in the Maiden Handicap 1666m. Jack Bruce is striking as well as anyone and SURREEL (8) was only run down late at Sunshine Coast. American Jazz (4) will appreciate the extra distance and with Brodie Loy can improve.

LORD MARKEL (1) is the best bet for Wednesday's race 2- Class 6 Handicap 1200m at Ipswich. ACROBATIC (2) will enjoy a return to midweek grade and blinkers replace pacifiers. JOY TO ALL (6) has won three of four first-up and scored at his only previous start here. DALTORO (3) didn't get much room at Doomben last start and is fitter for three outings this time in.

Brazen Breccia (1) can bounce back after a disappointing performance at the Gold Coast. GOLDSCHLAGER (5) has been finding it hard to win but both previous successes have been here. DAINTREE DIVA (6) is improved by two outings and this distance will suit. Luke Tarrant has had a lean run but he could take advantage of the inside gate. DISCOURAK BOOM (2) went too hard at Kilcoy and was found out late. Jim Orman could go forward and give a sight.

ZAVABOOM (1) is unbeaten first-up and has won both wins at the trip. His stablemate REFERO (2) has an excellent first up record and will get every chance with Ryan Maloney. SACCA (5) will be readied by two trials and Tiff Brooker will give her a positive ride. Lady Shanghai (7) showed promise after a long break and she will improve.

JUKEBOX GLOW (9) is ready to win in the three-year-old Maiden Handicap 1350m at Ipswich on Wednesday, October 5. BIRDONAWING (8) was run down by Narnia last time. GURU CLASS ( 8) trialled well recently with Sam Collett and can box seat throughout. ACCELERATED GROWTH (1) looked a forward type when winning his trial.

ROYAL NICCI (11) has won two of three starts and was dominant from a wide gate at the Sunshine Coast last start. COSSIE (4) is a bold mare who has been running bold races of late. LITERMONT (12) form Victoria is up to this grade. MAGIC IN ME (5) can do things wrong but an inside gate helps.

BUSHIDO (1) is going for value at Benchmark 68 Handicap 1350m. He's been slowly away at both previous outings here and a positive ride from Taylor Marshall could make the difference. PLATINI (3) has been racing consistently since joining Rob Heathcote and is suited in this class. Dream Song (7) goes best when held up for the last crack.

NARNIA (15) ran in strong races at her first preparation and second-up beat a good Three-year-old field last start. VERY EXCITING (13) came from a wide gate and covered extra ground to just miss at the Sunshine Coast. Military Gambler (6) was racing in Saturday grade last preparation. NAUGHTY HARRY (7) is resuming after a quiet trial.
