Africa Cup of Nations group odds & predictions: Senegal & Egypt should progress

Sadio Mane and Senegal should win the Africa Cup of Nations. Egypt should also progress.

Senegal and Egypt are favourites to win their groups.

Cameroon are the defending champions of Africa Cup of Nations. Burkina Faso are ranked as outsiders in Group A. Cape Verde are also ranked outside the top four.

Sadio Mane's Senegal lost to Algeria in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations final. Senegal will be looking to win the trophy in Cameroon. They are in Group B with Zimbabwe and Malawi, both ranked outside Fifa's top 120, and Guinea.

Morocco were knocked out of the last Afcon by Benin. Morocco were unbeaten in qualifying for this month's tournament. Ghana are looking for their first AfCon title since 1982. Comoro and Gabon are debutants in the group.

Nigeria have done themselves no favours by replacing manager Gernot Rohr with Austin Eguavoen only four weeks before the start of Afcon. Egypt, led by Mo Salah, could capitalise and win Group D and make a great double with Senegal in top Group B.

Reigning champions Algeria are likely to be the stars of the show in Group E. Ivory Coast should run them close with Eric Bailly, Wilfried Zaha, Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller among the big names in their squad. Equatorial Guinea and Sierra Leone are 500-1 and 400-1000 to win the group.

Tunisia are in Group F. They are joined by Mali, Gambia, Mauritania and a team that topped their qualifying group.
